REPAIRING SMALL
"DINGS" AND MINOR SCRATCHES

Clean area to be repaired with tack cloth
or damp cloth. Do not use solvents, naphtha, or turpentines.
Allow to air dry.

Using lacquer putty, spot fill area with
a thin, even coat. Use the putty knife to feather out material beyond
dinged area.

Allow to dry.
-
Sand entire filled area with #150 or #300
fine grit sandpaper in hand sanding block.
-
Repeat Step #1.
-
Apply a fine, even coat of primer on
entire area and approximately 3" beyond.
TOOLS AND MATERIALS REQUIRED
-
Power orbital sander or D. A. type
sander.

Hand sanding block.
-
Course grit (#80) sandpaper and fine grit
(#150 to #300) sandpaper.

Polyester resin (ex. White Star) high
grade auto body filler with independent hardening agent.

Lacquer putty in tube form (ex. 3M, Du
Pont, R & M's Green Stuff) for spotting.
-
Castlegate prime paint in spray cans for
"touch-ups".
-
Wide blade putty knife.
-
Mixing board for polyester resin.
-
Clean absorbent cloths.
-
Damp cloth or tack cloth.
